When Geocoding an address within SchoolMint, we send the address to Google Maps APIs and Google Maps APIs return to us latitude/longitude coordinates, as well as a location type. From this point forward, we will only be storing coordinates of addresses for rooftop locations, since these are the most accurate and precise. It’s important to note that Google Maps usually has rooftop coordinates unless there are new housing developments.
If your organization does not have boundaries in place to restrict applicants from applying based on their address, then families will be able to proceed with submitting records as usual.
If your organization has boundaries in place to restrict applicants from applying based on their address, then families will not be able to proceed with submitting records when their address does not return coordinates. Instead, admins will first need to assign students their respective location. Then families will be able to submit their records. We do have the ability to allow families to apply without Geocodes. Please email email@example.com if you would like this turned on or if you have any questions!
