This article outlines how SchoolMint’s web for families prioritizes accessibility and ADA compliance in its web platform for families.
We reference Web Content and Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA to make conscientious decisions about the colors, fonts, layouts, and design used across our platform.
Some examples include:
(1) using correct color contrast ratios for readability,
(2) making all functionality available from a keyboard, and
(3) using labels for user interface elements.
In addition, SchoolMint ensures that training resources are available to users in an array of formats -- PDF, video, text (long and short versions), and a self-paced course library -- to reach individuals with different learning styles and/or disabilities.
Finally, families without access to computers, printers, scanners, or email can gain full access to SchoolMint using only a smartphone and mobile number.
This mobile accessibility is essential in economically diverse areas with variable technology access.
