The Hero app allows you to track students on the go! Whether you are awarding Hero points for students meeting expectations in common areas, or using the app for your daily hall sweep, our Hero app helps you to take Hero beyond the classroom walls so you can track students from anywhere! Much like the web portal, the app offers a view for administrators/non-instructional staff, as well as a view for classroom teachers, which includes classroom rosters. This article will explain tracking for each type of user. You can download the newest version of our app by searching for “Hero by Schoolmint” on your iOS or Android device.

Tracking Students in Hero for Classroom Teachers
Once you have downloaded the app, enter your username and password just as you would when accessing Hero from the web portal.
To track students from a class roster view, click on the three lines on the top left of your screen. From here, select “My Classes”, and your class periods will appear.
Click on the class period for which you would like to track students.
You will now have an option to track a single student, or to track multiple students at a time using “Fast Track.” To track a single student, you will start by clicking on a student. Once you have selected a student, you will choose if you would like to track the student for a “Positive,” “Negative,” “Tardy,” or “Neutral” behavior code. (*We will review how to use “fast track” to track multiple students later in this article.)
From here, the behavior codes in the category of your choice will appear.
Select the behavior code of your choice and click “Submit.”
You will see a confirmation screen confirming that you have tracked your student for the behavior you selected.
Tracking Multiple Students Using Fast Track
Fast Track is a convenient feature that allows you to track more than one student at a time. To track multiple students, navigate to the class period for which you would like to track students. Next, click “Select” in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Clicking “Select” will allow you to select multiple students.
Click on each student you would like to track, and then click on “Fast Track.”
Once you have clicked on “Fast Track,” you will choose if you would like to track the students for a “Positive,” “Negative,” “Tardy,” or “Neutral” behavior code.
In the next screen, select the behavior (or behaviors) of your choice for which students should earn points, and then click “Submit.”
You will know that students have been tracked for the selected behaviors when you see a confirmation screen like the one below.
Tracking Behaviors on the Hero App for Administrators and Non-Instructional Staff
Administrators and non-instructional staff can track students by scanning their ID badge, or by searching for them by name or student ID number. (Classroom teachers also have the ability to scan students, even those who are not on their class roster, when they follow these steps.)
Once logged into the app, users will see the option to select a behavior code.
Once the behavior code has been selected, select whether you would prefer to scan a student’s ID badge (In this case, click “Scan”), or search for them by name/student ID number (Click on “Search”). If you select the option to scan a student ID, you will see a pop-up asking to allow the Hero app to access the camera on your mobile device. From here, you will scan the student(s) ID and they will be tracked for the previously selected behavior code. (*This is the best option for tracking multiple students.)
If you select “search,” you will see a screen with a search bar. Enter the student’s name or student ID number in the search bar, and then select your student.
On the next screen, you will see a confirmation screen. On this screen you will click, “Confirm.” Once the app returns to the previous “search” screen, you will know that student has been tracked.
